EnVyUs join NiP in Gfinity final

The second Gfinity Summer Masters I grand finalists are EnVyUs, who have defeated dignitas in a close series 2-1 (de_dust2 8-16, de_overpass 19-15, de_cache 16-7).

Playing on EnVyUs' pick first, de_dust2, dignitas got off to a flying start with a 4-1 lead in the bag, soon extended 7-1 following two huge one-on-threes by Philip "⁠aizy⁠" Aistrup.

One more round went their way as EnVyUs were forced to save two guns, which helped them secure the second round on the board due to doubles from Richard "⁠shox⁠" Papillon and Fabien "⁠kioShiMa⁠" Fiey towards the B bombsite.

shox continued to make the difference in the following three rounds, one of which ended up being a scary tec-9 long rush, to make it 8-5. With a quick split B, dignitas broke nV's economy, only good for a pistol-scout forcebuy, with which the Danes had no problems and took a five-round lead going over to Counter-Terrorists.

EnVyUs were thus very reliant on the second pistol round outcome, but that did not go their way as dignitas were well prepared for their short-plant strategy.

An anti-eco later, EnVyUs took advantage of dignitas' poor A bombsite defence and won a 4-on-4 afterplant situation, and took two more before dignitas shredded two more similar pushes from short for 14-8.

Jacob "⁠Pimp⁠" Winneche's CT spawn position over the smoke wrecked nV's split B and just a forcebuy after, dignitas could go into a break happy with a 16-8 scoreline on map one.

With a 32-12 K-D on de_dust2, Pimp had a good reason to smile

dignitas transfered their pistol round success to Overpass, starting off as Counter-Terrorists, and through it got a quick 3-0 lead. EnVyUs ran two quick B pushes afterwards for two consecutive rounds, but dignitas stopped it the third time and got two rounds off it.

Pimp's triple on A helped dignitas secure round number five on the board, but then EnVyUs went back to what had worked before and evened it out with three in a row at 5-5.

Yet again dignitas managed to tweak things to defend the B push and with aizy's 1-on-2 clutch and another one from Mathias "⁠MSL⁠" Lauridsen, dignitas were looking at a 10-5 halftime score. With the pistol going in the Danes' favor once more, EnVyUs were staring down the barrel, but a Desert Eagle quad-kill from Edouard "⁠SmithZz⁠" Dubourdeaux got them some breathing room.

A quick B push after a single anti-eco was met with solid defence, as Pimp crossed a 25-frag line for the second time in the series for a five-round lead in favor of the Danish side. EnVyUs then won a 1-on-2 and with some agression towards the B bombsite got to a single-round deficit.

dignitas' plant in an eco helped them buy up in the following gunround, but it was for only one round as EnVyUs managed to hold strong on the A bombsite twice in a row for a 13-14 scoreline.

kioShiMa carried EnVyUs through de_overpass

After EnVyUs got to two map points, dignitas narrowed it down to one thanks to a smart rotation after a fight in front of the A bombsite, and won a round in the last second as Vincent "⁠Happy⁠" Schopenhauer was unable to hide in time.

In the overtime, kioShiMa continued with superb play, winning his team two rounds in a row with five frags combined, partly thanks to which EnVyUs won the overtime 19-15 to even the series.

After dignitas won all four previous pistol rounds, EnVyUs eventually got one and that was all they needed to get a 5-0 start. MSL then won a 1-on-1 for his team, but their economy was shredded to pieces and EnVyUs soon broke them again for 8-1.

Winning a round with all players alive helped dignitas get a small cushion, and another good defence, that time on the B bombsite, got them two in a row. Another two came from locking down each of the bombsites without any struggles and that meant a 7-8 halftime score for the dignitas side as Counter-Terrorists.

From there on though it was basically all she wrote for the Danes, as with another pistol round in their bag, EnVyUs stormed onto a couple of easy gunrounds for 13-7. A stalled out 2-on-2 ended up going in their favor as well, and another sweep on the A bombsite finished off the series at 16-7, 2-1 in favor of EnVyUs.
